| Krishna manifested himself in order to reinstate Dharma (righteousness) and re-establish justice. In his avatar, Krishna took on the mantle of a king, an ace diplomat and a politician par excellence, who thoroughly knew the ins and outs of the field... The Mahabharata was akin to what we know today as a World War... Though Lord Krishna's side attained victory, he was never pleased by the terrible outcome of it all... The cycle of Karma had demanded for this to happen and so, the war finally took place, in spite of Krishna's best efforts to stop it. Krishna, veritably the Prema Avatar (the avatar of love), is vastly known for his dalliances with the Gopis and the Brajbalas... The Radha-Krishna romance epitomizes real love, their lovemaking going beyond barriers of all kinds... In Hinduism and Indian mythology Krsna is the eighth avatar or reincarnation of the god Vishnu. Also Krsna is one of the most popular Hindu gods. According to legend Krsna was not only divine, but heroic as well. He is alleged to have defeated numerous dragons and monsters, and eventually as predicted, killed his half-uncle the tyrannical king Kamsa. In the epic poem 'Mahabharata' Krsna helps the Pandavas against the Kauravas, two families in contention. In the poem Krsna is depicted as divine. Also in the poem Krsna delivers his celebrated oration 'Bhagavad-Gita' on duty and life to the troubled Hero Arjuna, for who he was a charioteer, on the eve of the decisive battle. This speech persuaded Arjuna that it was right to fight against his kinsmen. The Gita is a Hindu philosophical text that was preached by Lord Krsna to Arjuna during the battle of Kurukshetra in the Hindu epic Mahabharata.
