Lord Vishnu, one of the Divine Trinities, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, is one of the most powerful Gods of the Hindu pantheon. He is known to have taken the Dasa Avataras (ten incarnations) in order to save the world from evil forces through many eras and eons. Vishnu lies on the Adisesha (the divine thousand-headed snake), floating on the Ocean of Milk. Goddess Durga, an aspect of Parvati and consort of Lord Shiva, is also the powerful Shakti, the Mahishasura Mardhini (the one who slayed the fearful demon, Mahisha). She is seated on a ferocious tiger and manifests Herself to wipe out evil from the face of the earth. Vishnu and Durga share a deep bond, with the latter considering Her as His younger sister.
