| The deserts of Rajasthan, though expansive and impressive, contain many arid stretches of land, which are completely shorn of water supplies. The people living in these deserts have to sometimes travel long distances for some pots of water. Generally, these people, who are nomads, move from place to place, finally settling down near some kind of a waterhole. The Rajputanas, particularly, is known to be a strong and tough, capable of a lot of hard work. Descendants of Rajput families, these women share the sheer grit that Rani Padmini had in the days of yore. Featured here is a desert scene of many Rajput women carrying several pots of water on their heads. They fill up the water from a green patch nearby and carefully place the earthen pots on their heads. Balancing all the pots, they walk gracefully through the desert paths. They demurely cover their heads with their ghunghats (veils) and their long skirts swish and sway as they walk along the sandy paths.
