India abounds with some of the greatest love stories of all times. Laila and Majnu's story is one such tale, which speaks of true love ending in tragedy.This story was written by Hashmet Shah. Majnu, the son of King Omar of Najid, falls in love with the beautiful Laila at a very young age. Both Laila and Majnu are madly in love with each other. But when Majnu approaches Laila's father asking for his daughter's hand in marriage, the father snubs him and beats him up. Then the two families get the lovers separated and marries off Laila to a Prince from Arabia. Laila, not being able to stand the separation from her loved one, starves herself to death. Majnu, on hearing this, reaches her gravesite and breathes his last out there. Depicted in this poster is a scene where Majnu roams around in the vast deserts, pining for his beloved Laila. )
