The Pharaoh signified the office of kingship in ancient Egypt. The Pharaoh was the most powerful person in Egypt, both in the political and religious spheres. He also held the title of ‘Lord of the Two Lands’ and ‘High Priest of Every Temple’.

The Lord of the Two Lands meant that the Pharaoh was the head of both Upper and Lower Egypt. All the land was owned by him, he would be the sole law creator, also collected taxes and was responsible for taking care of securing the land against foreigners as well.

As a High Priest, the Pharaoh was a representative of all the Gods on Earth. Additionally, he conducted all the religious rites and rituals and decided where and when to build temples in honor of the Gods of Egypt.

The Pharaoh featured here shows him majestically dressed in traditional headgear and costume, wearing a pensive expression, probably mulling over the state of affairs in his land.
