Kathak is a classical dance form of North India and was originally performed in temples of Rajasthan as well as royal courts of Uttar Pradesh. The kings and Nawabs used to take the Kathak dancers along with them whenever they used to go out on pleasure trips. These trips were sometimes carried out on boats, beautifully decorated and were known as Mayurpankhi boats made in the style of peacocks.
