Featured here is a glowing, golden statuette of an Egyptian Pharaoh. Pharaoh was the term used to denote the office of royalty in ancient Egypt. The Egyptians, however, did not initially coin the term ‘Pharaoh’. This term was first used by the Greeks and the Hebrews. Now, this term has come to be commonly used to mean the ancient Kings of Egypt. The number of Pharaohs who ruled Egypt of the yore is not definite. There were also many who ruled as Kings, who later on got exalted to the status of Gods of the land. Pharaohs were mostly males, but history has also recorded information about some female rulers.
