This is a tribal dhokra (lost wax casting) decoration item which depicts a deer. This antiquated item is made of cast metal using the lost-wax (or cire perdue) process called Dhokra. Dhokra is an alloy of Brass, Copper and Zinc and is used by tribals to make different kind of decorative items. These artifacts are made with great skill and meticulousness by the lost wax process, which gives them a fascinating antique look. Tribal families produce indigenous designs with typical mesh like features giving each and every article a distinctive beauty suitable for interior decoration. This item is a wonderful imagination of a tribal artist from Orissa, India.
