Lord Ganesha, son of Shiva and Parvati, is the elephant-headed Lord and the remover of obstacles in Hindu mythology. He is considered very auspicious and is propitiated, before the commencement of any new project. It is said that praying to Him before taking on a new task will help one complete it without roadblocks and obstacles.
Ganesha is also the Lord of the Moolaadhaara chakra, the first of the seven spiritual centres in one's subtle body. Ganesha is universally loved by people of all religions - one look at the endearing face of this benevolent God is bound to make people fall in love with him!
Featured here is a contemporary painting done by hand, of Lord Ganesha, in all His majesty. The Lord sits on his throne, holding the Paasha and the Ankusha in his two hands and blessing all his devotees.
