Balaji, an aspect of Mahavishnu, is the Lord of Tiruppati and the divine consort of Devi Padmavati. The stone sculpture featured here ably depicts the Lord Balaji, also referred to as Venkatachalapati (the Lord of Venkata Giri). Balaji wears a huge 'thirunaamam', a powder made from coarse white soil and starts from the center of the brows, extending to the forehead.
