India is a country that is famous for its spices. Many Indian spices are exported the world over, to meet the increasing demand for the spices and the hot Indian cuisine.
This country is filled with spice merchants who make a living out of selling exotic Indian spices. These spice sellers are commonly referred to as 'masalawallahs' and they sell many varieties of spice, like fenugreek powder, coriander-cumin powder, chili powder and the famous all-spice powder, which is the most essential ingredient in a typical Indian kitchen.
Indian wooden figurines placed around the house gives each room an arty touch. These little pieces are very popular both in India and abroad.
Featured here is a wooden sculpture of an Indian spice seller. The pagadi (turban) around his head indicates that he is a trader from North India. He is shown keeping all his boxes of spices ready and awaiting his customers.
