Birla Temple - The Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi is a major attraction in the Pink city of Jaipur. The temple is situated at the foot of Moti Dungri Fort and is built by the famous and affluent business family of Birlas.
The temple built in white marble is highly revered place of worship for Hindus. The image of Ganesh, the protector of households, over the beam at the entrance is considered immensely auspicious. The interiors boasts of a large panel of marble depicting mythological proceedings. The deities are housed in the sanctum sanctorum. The images of Lakshmi Narayan is sculpted out of a single piece of marble.
The three huge domes of the temple represent three different approaches to the religion. Many of the deities of the Hindu pantheon are depicted inside the temple, and on the outside walls great historical personages and figures from all religions are shown, including Socrates, Zarathustra, Christ, Buddha, and Confucius. The Laxmi Narayan Mandir is a modern architectural marvel, surrounded by lush green gardens. The fascinating exteriors of the temple are carved splendidly with beautiful sculptures based on mythological themes, while the interiors have a large marble panel portraying mythological events.
The beautiful white marble temple mesmerizes the onlookers, when it glows at night. Stained glass windows depict the scenes from Hindu scriptures.
Hutheesing Jain Temple - It is an architectural marvel dedicated to the 25th Jain Thirthankar, Shri Dharmanatha Bhagwan. It was built in 1848 A.D. This landmark Jain temple has breath taking architecture with the marble structure and pillars engraved with exquisite carvings.
The temple is spread over a sprawling courtyard, a mandapa surmounted by a large ridged dome, which is supported by 12 ornate pillars. The small garbhagruh (main shrine) on the east end reaches up into three stunningly carved spires and encircled by 52 small shrines dedicated to the various Tirthankars. There are large protuding porches with magnificently decorated columns and figural brackets on three outer sides. 78 ft Mahavir stambha (tower) fashioned after the renowned tower at Chittor in Rajasthan, flanks the outer courtyard by the front entrance. Some of the motifs used in the design reminds one of the Sultanate minarets of the Mughal period.
