In Christianity, the Last Supper was the last meal that Jesus Christ shared with his Twelve Apostles, before his death. The Last Supper has been the most celebrated incident in Christianity, being the subject of many paintings, discussions and spiritual discourses. The most famous recreation of the Last Supper has been Leonardo da Vinci’s painting, which hangs even today in the Louvre Museum, Paris. Sharing bread and wine with his disciples, Jesus said, “Do this in remembrance of me”. He split the bread into pieces and hands them over to everyone at the table saying, “This is my body”. He then takes a cup of wine (also called the Holy Grail) and passes it around, saying, “This is my blood of the everlasting covenant, which is poured for many”. Jesus was aware of his impending death and wanted his disciples to remember him forever and act in accordance with his teachings.
